My wife and I had dinner recently with a local expert on Emily Carr’s work. Our friend’s name is Lydia Harris, a reporter for the Tri-County Newspapers who also teaches at Butte College. I was delighted to learn about such a powerful artist and will be exploring her work more.

  1. I spent years studying Emily Carr’s paintings, writings and life. She was an extraordinary artistic talent who had a deep belief that God did not live in the four walls of a church. For Carr, God’s presence was most powerful in nature. This British Columbia native dedicated her life to expressing God in nature through her art.
